Totem Candles

Grain produced by Areaware The Totem Candle is cast in unscented paraffin wax from forms originally created by turning beeswax on a lathe.

When taking on this project I had to figure out how I would be able to manufacture these candles the same way the designers were doing it in their studio. It wasn't challenging to find a manufacturer who could lathe the forms, it was the labor and material cost that became a problem.
In the end I was able to negotiate with the designers to going with a casting process that would result in the final forms once de-molded. The changes didn't alter the final quality of the candles, as they still felt true to the original.
